Real Estate Attorney. Investor. Veteran. People Person.

01 / A personal introduction

Hi, I'm Jim.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm a New Jersey attorney, real estate investor, Marine Corps veteran, husband, father, and grandfather. I've been practicing law in New Jersey since 1996. My legal career actually began in maritime law, where I worked on cases involving treasure salvage and emerging technologies used to locate and recover historic vessels. But real estate eventually became the center of my practice. I purchased and flipped my first home in the late 1990s and went on to build a high-volume real estate practice representing buyers, sellers, and investors.

Over the years, I've seen real estate transactions from many different angles. I've seen the exciting ones, the complicated ones, and I've seen the deals where something unexpected threatened to derail everything. Those experiences shaped the way I practice law today.

Real estate law isn't just about contracts and closing documents. It's about helping real people navigate some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Jim Lloyd has been practicing law in New Jersey since 1996 and has represented thousands of clients in real estate purchases, sales, and investments. Today, he runs Lloyd Law with a simple goal:

Give clients experienced legal guidance without making the process harder than it needs to be.

02 / My Approach

People matter more
than paperwork.

At the end of every transaction is a person, a family, an investor, a business, or a life decision. That's who we're really representing.

01

You deserve to understand
what you're signing.

Legal documents can be complicated. Your explanation shouldn't be.

02

Your attorney should
communicate.

You shouldn't have to wonder whether your attorney received your message or what's happening with your transaction.

03

Experience matters.

The more transactions you see, the more potential problems you learn to recognize.

04

Technology should make
things easier.

05

Your attorney should understand your goal.

The legal answer isn't always the only thing that matters. Your attorney should understand what you're actually trying to accomplish.

Real-world perspective

I Don't Just Practice Real Estate Law. I've Been on the Other Side of the Transaction, Too.

Real estate became a passion of mine in the late 1990s when I purchased and flipped my first home. Since then, I've represented thousands of clients through purchases, sales, and investment transactions. That investor perspective gives me a different way of looking at a deal.

I'm not only thinking about: "What does the contract say?" I'm also thinking about:

"What is my client trying to accomplish?"
"Where could this transaction run into trouble?"
"What should my client understand before moving forward?"
"What can we do now to prevent a bigger problem later?"

That's the perspective I bring to every real estate transaction.
